A lot of the dogs I work with in Mesa came from a shelter, a rescue, a Craigslist rehome, or a family member who couldn’t keep him anymore. Somewhere in that dog’s history is a thing you’ll never have the details on, and you’re finding out about it one surprise at a time. He’s fine until someone raises their voice. Fine until a man in a hat walks up. Fine until you reach for his collar.
You don’t need his history to fix it. I’ve spent years volunteering with local rescues taking the hard cases nobody else would touch, and I train on dog psychology and body language rather than cookies and luck. If you’ve already tried a group class or a trainer who handed you a bag of treats and wished you well, you’re the kind of client I’m best at.
What I see in Mesa homes
A woman called me about her rescued Anatolian Shepherd. The dog was reactive. She pulled on the leash. She ran from loud noises. And her owner needed her to be a mobility service dog. That is about as far as you can get from where this dog started. We got her calm at home first, then out in public, then into the work. Now she is a full-on mobility service dog.
Another family had a Great Dane who was afraid of his own shadow. He would not go for a walk. When they put the leash on him, he froze. That is a lot of dog standing still in the driveway. Now he walks on a leash and listens around the house like a good dog should.
Two big, scared dogs. One is a service dog now. The other is a good dog around the house. A scared dog can come a long way.

Once your dog is solid at home, home stops being the test. We work the Levee Trail at Usery, the river access at Coon Bluff when the horses are out, Red Mountain Park, Riverview, the paths around Dobson Ranch, and downtown Main Street when the light rail is running—because a dog who holds a stay through a train going by is a dog you can take anywhere.
Pick the program that fits
Every program is custom, and they run from about five weeks for house and door manners up to nine weeks for a dog you can take anywhere. Puppy training, obedience, behavior work, and PTSD service dog training all included.
